A leading youth activist, Mr Albert Atta Opoku Vohdi, has stated that the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, will institute measures that will significantly improve living standards if Ghanaians vote wisely and massively for him come December 7, 2024, to become the next President of Ghana on January 7, 2025.
According to him, Ghanaian workers have been taken for a ride for nearly eight years under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Mahamudu Bawumia administration but an NDC government under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama and Professor Mrs Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, which will definitely have the ordinary Ghanaian at heart, will make sure that workers enjoy maximum benefit from their labour through the reduction of irrelevant taxes created by Dr Bawumia as the head of the economic management team of the NPP since January 7, 2017.
The NDC activist said one major policy that his party would pursue within its first 100 days in office is the reduction of fuel prices and irrelevant taxes to mitigate the hardships of the ordinary Ghanaian.
He said since transportation cost negatively affects the meagre income of Ghanaian workers, it will be wise and reasonable for any caring and sensitive government to reduce fuel prices by abolishing the unreasonable taxes as a way of cushioning workers.
Mr Vohdi said an NDC government will embark on housing projects at vantage points in the country to provide decent accommodation for Ghanaian workers as a motivation to enhance productivity and exports which will rake in foreign currencies to cushion our economy.
He said that such measures will make accommodation affordable in such a way that they will be easily accessible to the ordinary worker in both the formal and non-formal sectors across the country.
In a related development, the vociferous youth activist predicted that the upcoming general elections will be an easy win for the NDC Presidential candidate, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, through vigilance towards the ballot boxes.
According to him, the way and manner in which Ghanaians voted wisely and massively for NDC in the 2020 general elections was a clear indication that Ghanaians are fed up with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and therefore want a change for better standard of living.
He said the NPP government had failed to honour the numerous promises they made in 2016, 2020, campaigns and that giving them another term will be a disaster for Ghanaians.
In his view, the former President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is the best person to lead the country to where it belongs.
He appealed to the eligible voting populace to turn up in their numbers on December 7 to cast their vote wisely and massively for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and all the NDC parliamentary candidates.
