Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, visited former President Muhammadu Buhari at his Daura residence in Katsina State on Saturday.
The visit, captured in a video sourced from close contacts, also included the presence of former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, who accompanied Atiku.
This visit follows closely on the heels of Atiku’s recent meetings with former military heads of state, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, in Minna, Niger State. Atiku shared news of these earlier visits on social media, saying, “Today, I paid Sallah homage to former Heads of State Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and Gen. Abdulsalami at their residences in Minna, Niger State.”
These engagements have sparked speculation about Atiku’s potential candidacy in the 2027 presidential election. In May, Atiku declared his ongoing commitment to pursue the presidency, contingent on his health.
His declaration came amid talks about forming a coalition with Labour Party candidate Peter Obi and other political entities.
