I remain committed to party’s ideals, no plan to dump YPP – Anyaso By Chijindu Emeruwa

Abia State Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) during 2023 elections, Dr Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has described as baseless and untrue that he had dumped the party.

This comes against recent speculations within the ruling party in Abia state, alleging that YPP in Bende local government area had collapsed and that its leader in Abia north senatorial zone, Anyaso had decamped.

In a statement on Tuesday, Anyaso reiterated his committment to the ideals and principles of Young Progressives Party.

“There has been no defection or collapse of the party in Bende. The YPP continues to stand strong, dedicated to serving the people and upholding the values of democracy”,he reiterated.

The Abia party chieftain urged those spreading these falsehoods to desist from such irresponsible actions, aimed to mislead the public and create unnecessary confusion.

“For us in YPP and particularly in Bende, we recognize that politics is primarily for the development of our communities and betterment of the lives of our people hence our unequivocal support of our friend and son, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu in his assignment as the deputy speaker of house of representatives and representative of Bende at the federal house, and His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti, the executive governor of Abia state.

“This support however, does not translate to an abandonment of our duties as the major opposition in the state rather it serves to signal to those in the ruling party and the general public that politics is over and leadership is what is required at this material time. When the time for politics comes, we will politic as we now have better understanding of the needs and aspirations of our people and are also now better positioned to deliver the dividends of democracy to them. But for now, Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu and HE Dr Alex Otti enjoys our support as a party”.Anyaso added.

He enjoined the ruling parties at both state and federal levels to exercise greater responsibility in nurturing and allowing opposition voices to thrive.

While reiterating the party’s steadfastness in its mission to bring about positive change and development for the people of Bende and Abia North senatorial zone, Anyaso assured he would continue to work tirelessly to represent the interests of constituents and uphold the democratic values that bind us together as a nation.

The deputy Governorship candidate thanked supporters and the people of Bende local government area for their continued trust and confidence in the party.
