Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has expressed deep sorrow over a recent unprovoked attack on Ayati Village in Ukum Local Government Area, which resulted in multiple fatalities.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, and shared with journalists in Makurdi on Friday, the governor strongly condemned the renewed wave of violence.
Governor Alia voiced his concern about the continuous attacks on defenseless citizens by armed bandits, noting that such brutal incidents persist despite the presence of security forces in the state.
He reaffirmed his commitment to using all lawful means to protect the people of Benue, particularly those in Ukum, which has been heavily targeted in recent times.
The governor urged security agencies to enhance their surveillance efforts to ensure that vulnerable communities are adequately protected.
Expressing his condolences to the families of the victims, Governor Alia prayed for God’s comfort and pledged that his administration would continue to pursue both discreet and overt strategies to restore peace in Sankera and ensure that its residents can once again live in harmony.
