73 babies delivered at RCCG convention

A total of 73 newborns have been delivered during the ongoing 72nd Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), according to reports from Sunday PUNCH.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the church, announced the births during the Friday Holy Ghost Congress held at Redemption City in Mowe, Ogun State.

The RCCG’s annual convention, which began on Monday, August 5, 2024, is set to conclude today, Sunday. Thousands of worshippers have attended the event, filling both the old and new arenas to capacity, with several overflow areas also in use.

According to reports, more than 18,068 worshippers participated in the Friday Holy Ghost service via the church’s YouTube channel and Dove TV. Additionally, guest houses and hostels in and around Redemption City were fully booked by attendees.

Before delivering his sermon on Saturday morning, Pastor Adeboye shared that, as of 6 p.m. on Friday, 73 babies had been born during the convention, including 39 boys and 34 girls. Among the newborns were two sets of twins.

Announcing the births, Adeboye said, “As of 6 p.m. on Friday evening, the number of children born during this convention had increased to 73. We welcomed another set of twins today, bringing the total to 39 boys and 34 girls. Once again, let the boys shout ‘Praise the Lord!’ and let the girls shout ‘Hallelujah!’ Don’t worry; the girls are trying to catch up. In fact, the set of twins are two girls. It must be a special day for girls also.”

It has become a tradition for the General Overseer to announce the number of births during the convention. In 2023, 62 babies were delivered, with an equal split of 31 boys and 31 girls.

In his message titled “Let There Be Light,” Pastor Adeboye urged worshippers to pray against any form of darkness in their lives and families. He also led the congregation in a series of high-impact prayers focused on overcoming darkness and prayed for the royal fathers who attended the event.

Drawing from Genesis 1, Adeboye explained that the phrase “Let there be light” could represent a command from God, advice from God, or a cry for help. He emphasized the importance of praying against darkness in all its forms.

He also announced that the theme for next year’s annual convention will be “Overcomers.”

Earlier in the convention, Pastor Folu Adeboye, his wife, led a prayer session for families, asking God to heal broken families and make every home a haven of peace.
