International Film festival unveiled in Abia

The Abia International Film Festival (ABIFF), has been unveiled in Umuahia, the capital city of Abia state.

At an inaugural event held in Umuahia, the President of Abia International Film Festival, Alex Elekwa hinted that project is aimed at promoting arts, culture, and science through film.

He explained that the programme will empower local youths, boost tourism, and attract international film makers.

While emphasizing that the program’s focus on training and job creation, Mr Elekwa said that the international film festival will position Abia as a premier destination in the global film industry.

He said the initiative will transform the state’s cultural landscape and provide new opportunities for its youth.

According to him, “One of ABIFF’s key objectives is to train Abia’s youth in various aspects of film production, thereby empowering them to become self-employed and create job opportunities within their communities.
This international exposure is expected to open new investment opportunities and elevate Abia’s profile as a prime destination for film tourism.

“ABIFF’s first theme, “Cultivating Abia’s Next Generation of Film Creatives,” reflects its commitment to nurturing local talent and fostering a vibrant film industry in the state.

“The festival is also a call to action for the Abia State government to support and partner with this initiative to showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage and untapped film locations”.
