How peer pressure pushed me to have butt enlargement — Mercy Eke

Reality TV star Mercy Eke has finally addressed her experiences with cosmetic procedures, shedding light on how peer pressure significantly influenced her decision to undergo a Brazilian butt lift (BBL).

Eke disclosed that the trend of body enhancement was dominant around 2018, compelling her to follow suit.

“To be very truthful, it was the trend at the time. I think this was around 2018 and it was the trend, peer pressure and everyone was doing it. I had a very good form and it wasn’t bad; the stomach was too much,” she confessed.

According to Tribune, the pressure to conform to popular beauty standards was a major factor in her decision-making process. Eke admitted that her choice was heavily swayed by the influence of those around her, who were also opting for similar procedures.

Before undergoing the procedure, Eke noted that she experienced considerable anxiety and chose to keep her plans a secret from her mother to avoid potential discouragement.

“I was really scared when I wanted to do it; I didn’t tell my mum because I didn’t want anyone to discourage me. So it was me and two of my other friends, we planned it, paid and did it together,” she recounted.

The post-surgery phase was challenging for Eke, as she had to endure significant discomfort. She described the necessity of lying on her stomach for approximately 14 days to avoid pressure on her bum.

“Getting your body massaged after the surgery is the painful part, also not being able to sleep on your bum for 14 days or so, so you have to lay with your stomach. Also, when the nurses try to massage you to bring the water out,” she explained.

Despite the initial pain and difficulties, Eke maintained that the procedure was ultimately worthwhile. She expressed satisfaction with the results, despite the considerable discomfort she experienced during recovery. The decision, driven by peer pressure, has been validated for her by the outcome.

In addition to discussing her BBL, she addressed misconceptions about her cosmetic work, particularly regarding her face. She clarified that while she has had fillers in her lips, other claims about her facial enhancements are false.

“It was worth it. People keep saying that I touched my face so I keep posting throwbacks for them to see. I have only touched my lips, I had fillers done, it dissolves after 3 months and I feel like people need to be more educated,” she said.

“I had liposuction done and my bum is the softest you would even touch, it’s just fat so it feels like water,” she noted.
