APC chieftain appeals to Police over wrong press briefing

Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, the South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has issued an apology to the Nigeria Police and the Inspector General of Police for wearing a police uniform while speaking to the press about the upcoming Edo governorship election.

Agbomhere, who holds the rank of Supernumerary Chief Superintendent of Police, described his actions as unintentional and regrettable.

He clarified that his comments during the press conference were personal opinions and did not reflect the stance of the Nigeria Police Force.

As a lawyer, journalist, and human rights advocate, Agbomhere expressed concern over alleged attacks on democracy and human rights by the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

He cited the murder of Inspector Anu Akoh and attacks on APC members in Ekpoma as key issues.

Agbomhere, a member of several professional organizations, reaffirmed his dedication to nation-building, peace, and security.

He pledged to continue opposing corruption and incompetence in Edo State.

He criticized Governor Obaseki’s provocative statements, suggesting that Edo State and Nigeria could face severe consequences if Obaseki’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, is not elected. Agbomhere also noted Ighodalo’s refusal to sign the peace accord as concerning.

Agbomhere urged Edo voters to support APC candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo, highlighting him as the only candidate free from godfather influence.

He praised Okpebholo’s potential for providing humble leadership, good governance, and ensuring equity and justice.

Finally, Agbomhere called on Senator Okpebholo to form an inclusive government that unites Edo State and engages experts from various political backgrounds for the benefit of the state.

Recall that the South-South Zonal Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Blessing Agbomhere, had explained why he wore a police Supernumerary SPY, uniform to a political event.

In a statement on Friday, Agbomhere said he was overcome with emotion due to the actions of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, leading him to wear the uniform.

Agbomhere, who is also a police SPY officer, emphasized that he is a patriotic citizen of Nigeria and his actions were not intended to embarrass the police.
