A 50-year-old man, Paul David, who allegedly fraudulently obtained N407,000 from a woman was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate L.K.J Layeni on a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretences and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in September.
Mr Uche said that the defendant and others at large conspired to defraud a woman, Victoria Samuel, by obtaining the sum from her, with a promise to rent an apartment for her.
He said that the defendant stole the money in contravention of Sections 287, 316 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until November 18 for mention.
