Residents of Tokulo village in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are in a state of fear and anxiety after the discovery of 12 bodies on Tuesday morning, believed to be those of bandits.
The bodies, which remained at the scene as of Tuesday evening, were confirmed by Jerry Alkali, the local councillor for Igu Ward. Alkali told the media that although the authorities had been notified, no official explanation had been provided regarding the deaths.
According to an anonymous local resident, none of the deceased were from the village, suggesting that they may have been recruited or brought in before being killed by security personnel.
Tokulo, the hometown of the current chairman of the Bwari Area Council, has been the target of several attacks by bandits in the past, resulting in the deaths of both residents and security personnel.
A similar incident occurred in September in Kawu village, also in Bwari, where five bodies believed to be bandits were found.
While the latest discovery has been confirmed, officials from the FCT Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit declined to provide further details on the matter.
Efforts to obtain clarification from SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, were unsuccessful.
