Bandits storm Abuja night club, kill popular DJ

Early Saturday morning, DJ Bash was killed by robbers who stormed and looted Volcano, a nightclub in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja.

FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh reported that the police were not promptly informed about the incident. Investigations have since begun to uncover the details of the crime.

In a statement to Peoples Gazette, Ms. Adeh noted that the robbery occurred around 2:00 a.m. but was only reported to the police at about 5:30 a.m., despite the nightclub being located just minutes from a police station.

Ms. Adeh expressed deep concern over Volcano nightclub’s delayed reporting of the incident, emphasizing that it was an outsider who eventually notified the police.

“The police were not alerted on time, but an investigation has commenced,” Ms. Adeh wrote on X, Saturday evening.

She reassured residents that security officers are monitoring the situation and urged everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

“We advise residents to be conscious of their surroundings. If you notice any suspicious activity, call the police immediately, and we will respond swiftly,” said the FCT police spokesperson.

Ms. Adeh encouraged citizens to use the police emergency lines, stressing that the effort put into posting about crimes on social media should also be used to call the hotlines.

She also mentioned that the emergency lines are accessible to various security agencies, enabling a quick response to distress calls.

“Again, the FCT police emergency numbers are 0803 200 3913 and 0806 158 1938,” Ms. Adeh wrote on X.
