A middle-aged man named Eric and his unidentified girlfriend were discovered dead in their residence in Ondo City, located in the Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The tragic discovery was made on Saturday in Eric’s apartment in the Ayeyemi area of the city.
Neighbors and residents speculated that the couple might have been using a generator and charging a phone from a socket placed on the bed. It is suggested that the woman’s chain could have come into contact with the socket, leading to electrocution.
A resident named Ayo reported that Eric’s relatives found the bodies when they went to check on him after he failed to answer his phone. They looked through the window, saw the bodies, and then broke down the door to enter the house.
SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with our correspondent. She mentioned that the couple had been in a relationship for about two years, and both families were aware of it.
The bodies have been evacuated and taken to a nearby hospital morgue.
