JAMB to announce cut-off marks on July 18

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled a policy meeting for Friday, July 18, 2024, to determine the admission cut-off marks for tertiary institutions.

Chaired by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, the meeting will establish the minimum cut-off marks for the 2024/2025 academic year. This information was revealed in JAMB’s weekly bulletin, released to journalists on Monday in Abuja.

Key stakeholders expected to attend include heads of regulatory bodies such as the National University Commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Also in attendance will be representatives from the National Council for Colleges of Education (NCCE), heads of tertiary institutions, and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), among others.

During the meeting, the JAMB registrar will present reports on the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and ongoing direct entry (DE) applications. The registrar will also analyze key performance indicators that could influence government policy on admissions.

Additionally, the meeting will review significant issues from the previous year’s admission process and examine candidate performance in the current year’s UTME to set the minimum admissible score.

Last year, stakeholders agreed on the minimum admission requirements for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. This year’s meeting will define the admission requirements for the current year, address unresolved issues from the past academic year, evaluate stakeholder compliance with existing guidelines, and propose necessary amendments.
