Police arrests man who stabs girlfriend to death in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Emmanuel Chukwuma for fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Bosede Adefehinti, aged 45. They shared an apartment on 7th Avenue, Festac, but were not married.

According to an eyewitness interviewed by Vanguard, conflicts between the couple were not uncommon, but the situation escalated drastically on the day of the incident. Reportedly, around 2:30 pm, Chukwuma stabbed Adefehinti and then attempted to take his own life by jumping into a well. Witnesses intervened, preventing his suicide and alerted the police.

The source attributed the altercation to Chukwuma’s insecurity, stemming from his unemployment and role in assisting his girlfriend in selling herbal medicines, locally known as Agbo. This often led to him being subjected to jests from customers while Adefehinti managed the shop.

Lagos State Police Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the tragic event in a brief statement, noting that the incident was reported around 3:10 pm following a distress call.
