Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have conducted successful operations in the Lake Chad Basin, resulting in the destruction of eight vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) and the elimination of over 70 terrorists.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi Abubakar, Chief Military Public Information Officer of the MNJTF, the operations under Operation Lake Sanity 2 included aerial strikes across Cameroonian and Nigerian territories of Lake Chad. Many terrorists were killed, and others fled into Chad during these engagements.
During the operations, troops also dismantled two ammunition bunkers northeast of Malam Fatori and neutralized 70 terrorists while dismantling five camps with support from the Chadian Rapid Intervention Force in Sector 2.
Lt. Col. Abubakar highlighted the effectiveness of MNJTF’s operational strategies and praised the collaboration with the Chadian Armed Forces. He expressed gratitude to the Chadian Armed Forces and other contributing countries, including Cameroon’s Operation Emergence 4, Nigeria’s Operation Hadin Kai, and Niger’s Sector 4, for their support in Operation Lake Sanity 2.
The MNJTF reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace to the Lake Chad Basin, promising continued collaboration with partners to achieve this goal.
