Lagos: APC debunks suspension of party members

The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports from some online media sources alleging the suspension of party members in the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, APC’s state publicity secretary, Seye Oladejo, stated that no members have been suspended in any area of Lagos, including Alimosho Local Government.

“Our attention has been drawn to false reports alleging the suspension of thousands of party members in Alimosho by State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi,” Oladejo stated. “We categorically deny these allegations.”

He emphasized that Ojelabi remains dedicated to maintaining the party’s unity and fostering peaceful coexistence among members.

“APC, like any political party with diverse aspirations, experiences occasional conflicts and suspicions, which can always be resolved within its constitutional framework,” Oladejo added. “The chairman, with his extensive experience in party politics and governance, is committed to accommodating all viewpoints without infringing on anyone’s rights.”

Oladejo also noted that the chairman firmly believes that the interests of party factions should not overshadow the party’s overall cohesion and that party leaders should ensure elected and appointed officials deliver effective service.

“There is no provision in the party’s constitution that allows the chairman to unilaterally suspend a member,” he said. “We urge the public to disregard statements aimed at creating fictitious conflicts and spreading deliberate falsehoods.”
