Vice President Kamala Harris has indicated interest to go another debate round with former president Donald Trump.
Her campaign announced this after Tuesday’s presidential debate, expressing a desire for a second meetup with Trump before the November elections.
According to a media report, the decision to request another debate was made before both candidates took the stage on Tuesday night.
If Trump agrees, the second meeting would come in addition to an October 1 debate between both major-party vice-presidential nominees.
Harris campaign Chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement after the debate that the American people got to see the choice they will face at the ballot box: between Harris and Trump.
“That’s what they saw tonight and what they should see at a second debate in October. Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is Donald Trump?” He asked.
Trump had previously called for three debates with Harris, but it’s not immediately clear whether he would agree to a second meeting.
A Trump campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita, responded to the news with a brief statement. “Of course,” he wrote. “They need clean up.”
