Tinubu urged to be sensitive to plight of suffering masses

President Bola Tinubu and other leaders in Nigeria have been urged to consider the struggles of the suffering masses while implementing reforms across the country.

Evangelist Lydia Idoko, Founder of the Faith Women Fellowship, FWF, made this appeal during the 38th National Convention of the Ministry in Makurdi, themed “Godly Women, Unsung Heroes.” She lamented the significant hardships and pain currently faced by Nigerians.

Idoko encouraged leaders to empathize with ordinary citizens and to be guided by their needs.

“This is a time of wailing, hunger, and hardship. It is our spiritual responsibility to uplift the people. Despite the uncertainties of life, we must turn to God, who provides solutions,” she stated.

She emphasized the importance of instilling spiritual confidence among the populace, assuring them that God hears their cries and remains a faithful father.

“We need patience, as God will touch the hearts of our leaders to act appropriately,” she added.

Idoko called for empathy from leaders during the implementation of reforms and policies. “Leaders should be problem solvers, not creators of problems.

They must not be selfish or covetous but focus on the interests of the suffering people. They may not be in power forever and will still have to face the same citizens—what will they tell them then?”

Reflecting on the transient nature of power, she noted that many who have served in various governments now lead humble lives, underscoring that God is always watching their actions.

The two-day Women of Excellence Convention aimed to promote spiritual revival, with Idoko asserting that, in times of crisis, a collective spiritual approach through prayer is essential for divine intervention.

She highlighted the Ministry’s charitable efforts over its 38 years, stating that the Lily Idoko Foundation has provided housing for young ministers, scholarships for academically gifted but underprivileged students from primary to tertiary institutions, and assistance to widows within and beyond Benue State.
