The Kano Police authorities also assured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and security amid tensions surrounding the Chieftaincy Affairs of the State.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the Bompai Police Command Headquarters on Saturday, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, emphasized the command’s strict adherence to the Court Order issued by the Federal High Court sitting in Kano.
“The Police Command is expressly obeying the Court Order with SUIT No: FHC/KN/CS/182/2024 dated 23rd May, 2024,” he stated.
CP Gumel called on the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as the matter is set to be addressed by the Court on June 3, 2024.
He highlighted the cultural heritage and respect for authorities that Kano State is known for, urging residents to continue upholding these values.
He warned against any attempts to disrupt the peace in the State, stating that anyone found guilty of such actions would face severe consequences.
“Whoever, under whatever guise, is found to be planning to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in the State will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law,” Gumel said.
He added that miscreants should avoid violence and not exploit the situation to launch unprovoked attacks on people or property.
The combined security agencies in the State have put all necessary measures in place to ensure that law and order are maintained.
“The safety and security of all the people in the State remain sacrosanct,” said CP Gumel.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the residents for their understanding, prayers, and continuous support.
He added that in case of emergencies, the public can contact the Command through the “NPF Rescue Me” application available on the Play Store or visit the nearest police station.
