#EndBadGovernance protesters chased away from Lagos park by hoodlums

Hoodlums disrupted the #EndBadGovernance protest at Gani Fawehinmi Park in the Ojota area of Lagos State on Sunday.

Trend news reports that the protest against bad governance, hunger return of fuel subsidy enters day 4 today.

At around 10:30 am, a disagreement erupted among the protest organizers. A lawyer known as JP urged the protesters to disperse, citing President Bola Tinubu’s recent address to the nation. However, another faction, led by 70-year-old Adegboyega Adeniji of Peace Action Transformation, insisted on continuing the demonstration.

The police intervened, attempting to persuade the small group to leave. Shortly after, a group of individuals, whom the protesters alleged were sponsored, arrived from across the road to disperse them.

By 11:30 am, the hoodlums returned, forcefully chasing the protesters away from Ojota. The police have since taken control of the protest site.

Before being dispersed, the protesters sang solidarity songs in response to President Tinubu’s address, claiming he had not addressed their core concerns despite outlining his administration’s efforts.

Earlier in the morning, security agents had restricted the protesters to Gani Fawehinmi Park, preventing them from holding a procession beyond the designated area. The protesters complied without resistance and returned to the specified point.

These nationwide protests, driven by hunger and economic hardship, entered their fourth day on Sunday. From the first to the third day, police dispersed protesters with tear gas, an action condemned by various civil society organizations.
