Chairmen of the state chapters of the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, have expressed their confidence in the party’s national leadership.
This decision follows a meeting held in Lagos on Thursday, chaired by Ademola Ayoade, the party’s Vice National Chairman for the zone.
In a statement, Adelusi Ayeni and Ronnie Dikko-Kila, the chairmen of Ekiti and Lagos States respectively, quoted Ayoade as saying, “The State Chairmen and I have convened to discuss and outline the future direction for the party in the zone.”
“We agreed that our confidence in the leadership of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the Dr. Ajuji Ahmed led National Executive and National Working Committees, remain unshaken”.
“The Osun State chairman, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi stated that what’s utter most in the minds of their minds was the issue of party discipline and the need to revamp the structures of the party to the ward level.
“We realise that we cannot achieve much as some members lack discipline and do as they choose. Going forward, the party will no longer tolerate indiscipline from its members.
“We must be a united and cohesive force as we restructure towards, 2027.
“It was also agreed at the meeting that there will be zonal consultations and strategic meetings in order to grow the party.”
Also the Oyo State chairman, Motunde Fajuyi noted that “The consultations will begin in earnest and we are planning that there will also be a Southwest meeting in Osun State in the last quarter of this year.”
